decision made.
hell no am i gonna be doing this for the next 4 years, without the option of an exit. sure, i LOVE teaching, and the kids are way adorable even when they're being a pain in the ass.
BUT
there's just way too much work. dun get me started on the elaboration. bottomline is, too much work, not enough time. so we end up working into the night, into the weekends, and into our holidays. fun? I don't think so.
sure we earn a lot. but what's the point of having money when we dun get to spend it? even worse, i dun even get to spend much time with my loved ones. either i need to mark or plan lessons, or when i'm with them, i keep worrying abt the amount of work i hv yet to complete. i dun get to play games or watch tv without feeling guilty.
it's now that i realise money can't buy anything other than material goods.
i seriously would rather hv less money and more time. to hv time flying by is sad.
and i'd rather work in an office whr sometimes i hv to stay late to finish work. i just want the work to stop when i leave the office. not like now. i'm always worrying about what i'm gonna do with the class tomorrow. next week. when will i finish marking? what do i do about that student who keeps making an ass of himself? what abt that one who doesn't do any work in class?
it's too exhausting. i'm too young to be worrying abt kids.
so what's next?
no idea. i've been applying for editing jobs, and i'm looking out for anything else worthy. even teaching jobs elsewhere, not in a proper school. maybe a tuition centre? i think i'd make more of a difference in a place whr i dun hv to plan every hour to suit 40 different kids. 40 is too big a number. i can't possibly be that effective. yes, other ppl can do it. but i'm not other ppl. i do things my way, my pace.
i guess a problem student can nvr be a good teacher. we dun care enough.
I'll just tender my resignation by tmr.
I shd do that.
maybe u think I shd wait for a job offer. but these kids deserve better than a teacher who's coming to class just to pass the time. i mite just meet up with some of them outside of school if they need extra help. i wanna make a difference, but not under so much protocol and pressures.
i guess i'm a hippie at heart.
flower power.

you can tell me that the job is too demanding, consumes too much of your time, and it steals the life you should be living. you can tell me that the money is less important to you than time you wnat to have with the ones you love.
but i don't want to hear that you aren't a good teacher. classroom management is NOT teaching, it's the bullshit you have to take on just to get the chance to teach. 40 IS too big a number -- 22 is more realistic. don't dis' yourself. you DO care enough, or else the situation wouldn't bother you so much.
can i also say that this job takes me away from my butter yellow?
*grins*
you can. touché

hehe.. love u guys.
u rock, bebehs!
DARLING. oh my god i am a month late!
haha. i tell zat all the time (after med quit infact med also applies when she was teaching) that you are a good teacher because students can connect to you. they have respect for you. and the fact that work goes on for you even after hours show how dedicated you are as a teacher. sad to say for a lot of teachers, work stops the moment the bell rings.
u want admin jobs? NUS is hiring and they usually require only degree holders. i dont know if you manage to see the adverts but well it's pretty relaxed, working environment is fun, the students you deal with would be different but the admin people i see in NUS all look happy haha. PLUS i get to see you a lot.
:) and we can go to school together hahaha
check the NUS website! they are hiring extensively.
and yes this is ad
